Fourteen years ago, Abasto Media began with a clear and compelling goal to reach Hispanic food and beverage entrepreneurs who had not yet been reached in an efficient or systemic way.  These business owners and managers are productive and successful yet need more connections with other professionals in the food industry to build a bigger network of mutually beneficial relationships. The mission of Abasto Media is to become the indispensable guide of information to help Hispanic entrepreneurs in the food industry grow their business.


Gus Calabro takes a vision and makes it a reality through sound strategy development. Gus is an inspirational leader who tells stories that inspire action while at the same time is grounded in business information that controls the business.  Respected as a credible voice in decision making, finding strategic partners, and establishing governance boundaries, Gus earns a seat at the table wherever he works.  As the Executive Director at Abasto Media and HMC, a privately held publishing and marketing company oversees its operations from sales to editorial.  He is now initiating major strategic shifts to transform Abasto from a national to a multinational publishing operation.  To do this, Gus is executing changes by integrating AI technology into the publishing industry development.


Gus Calabro holds a BA in History from Salem College and the University of Architecture in Buenos Aires (Marketing).  He serves on the Latino Food Industry Association Board of Directors. Abasto Media is also a great supporter of our Virtual Business Wednesday Webinars and often presents tips on advertising and marketing.  We are proud to honor Abasto Media with the MEDWeek2022 Legacy Award for Excellence in Marketing.  CONGRATULATIONS!
